NTSB Explores Pilot Error…

We Miss You Julie
My morning newspaper brought this news. A pilot on the flight that crashed last month in a Buffalo suburb (Flight 3407) apparently triggered the accident by yanking the turboprop into a sudden steep climb that caused it to lose control, federal accident investigators said Wednesday. It seems that my sister-in-law, Julie Ries, killed in that plane crash, was flying with pilots that may not have adhered to strict rules governing conduct in the cockpit. The NTSB’s release suggested that the pilots’ actions in the minutes leading up to the crash may also be an issue… Among the areas under investigation are federal regulations requiring pilots to discuss only work-related issues during critical phases of flight below 10,000, the NTSB said (Alan Levin, The Associated Press).
